Why a Severe Pandemic Here?

I don’t know. I do have a somewhat educated guess.

Pfizer and Moderna are producing revolutionary technology. The countrywide vaccination against polio in my childhood was efficient and well performed. The isolation and treatment by Americans in the Ebola crisis was remarkable. Unlike Ebola as to the Africans and notice, the Chinese did “hide the ball” when it mattered most. But apparently, New Zealand nearer China has kept the numbers under control.

Yes, we have worse numbers than a host of countries worldwide. I believe that is now per capita. We are 10th per capita in the world per Statista.com ( https://www.statista.com/statistics/1104709/coronavirus-deaths-worldwide-per-million-inhabitants/).

That of course assumes the international data is accurate which is doubtful for some nations.

It seems our divisiveness provided too many approaches to the crisis. This apparently became a political rather than a logistical, scientific effort.

An interesting dilemma has occured as well. At a time we intend to rely on healthcare professionals to vaccinate us they are overwhelmed with the biggest surge yet.

May God bless our leaders as they approach these problems in 2021. In many cases our lives depend on it.
