“No man can describe to another convincingly wherein lies the magic of the woman who ensnares him.” So said Algernon Blackwood, the late English writer. The Biblical Proverbs address the same conclusion in Chapter 30, verses 18-19. “There are four things that are too mysterious for me to understand: an eagle flying in the sky, a snake moving on a rock, a ship finding its way over the sea, and a man and a woman falling in love.” Sammy Davis described, I believe in his book, Yes I Can, his response to his beautiful wife, May Britt, who claimed the attraction was all physical. He said, in essence, no, it’s just the sense I get when you enter a room.
I think my best answer to those who overemphasize the physical, is that my spouse Kristine is just as beautiful to me as she was 44 years ago, when we first met. Why have I loved her? I don’t know.
I believe the good Lord put us together one spring day in 1977. Only one thing is certain. She is the love of my life.
