We Remember Wilford Brimley

The loss of a fine actor in 2020…

Pilgrim on a Long, Long Journey

We just lost the wonderful 85 year old character actor, Wilford Brimley. The t.v. series in which we saw him weekly was Our House. I so loved that show.. I am nearly certain I passed the house used for the exterior shots on my way to work in the 80s and 90s. His warmth and presence were the heart of that program.

Wilford was also excellent in the haunting film, The Natural. It was a film that reminded us all that life is full of surprises and that one can be subject to sudden falls from grace. There was something very REAL about Wiford Brimley in that film and all his work that I found unforgettable.

We will miss him.

Waiting in Line

“The older you get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.” Will Rogers, 20th-century humorist.

He only lived to 56. But, he lacked fast-food restaurants, Kindle downloaded books, and instant phone communication, nearly anywhere. You remember being unavailable. Right?

Many start-ups in this century have been selling convenience without lines. Even waiting in line is easier while reading via your phone.

I think that pace has made one thing quite important in our lives. That is the ability to slow down, well. I have had little success. Lord, please bless those of us who need it with that tranquil skill.
