Solace

Here are two quotes that speak to my heart. “Writing is the supreme solace.” So wrote the late W. Somerset Maugham, the marvelous British novelist, who wrote Of Human Bondage. “And in that moment, I swear we were infinite.” Are the words of Stephen Chbosky, an American novelist.

In my writing, when immersed in the “zone,” I lose track of time. There is a sense of the eternal, which is outside time or infinite.

It is the supreme solace. I believe that feeling comes from God. It finds me at my writing desk nearly every day.

It has given me more peace in old age, in our stressful Pandemic. May you be blessed with God’s peace wherever your circumstances find you.
